英会話でよく聞く「I agree.」の意味は？
今日覚えたいキーフレーズは、アナとフィルが都会と田舎の違いについて話すシーンからピックアップ♪
Phil: Well, I agree. There is more culture in the city and there might be more jobs. But the country has more nature. The city is not beautiful. It’s noisy and dirty.（まあ、わかるよ。都会にはもっと文化があるし仕事も多いかもしれない。でも田舎にはもっと自然がある。都会はきれいじゃない。うるさいし汚い）
Anna: I disagree. I think all the different buildings are beautiful. And I like to watch all the different people.（私はそうは思わない。私はここの様々なビルはすべて美しいと思う。そして私はいろんな人たちを見るのが好き）
Phil: That’s another thing that is different. People in the country are friendly. Here, no one says “Hello.”. I think city people are rude.（そこがまた田舎とは違う点だ。田舎の人はフレンドリーだ。ここでは、誰も「ハロー」とは言わない。僕は都会の人は失礼だと思う）
Anna: Well, I agree. Country people are friendly. But I don’t think city people are rude. I think they’re just busy.（まあ、わかるわ。田舎の人はフレンドリーね。でも私は都会の人が失礼だとは思わない。単に忙しいんだと思う）
Phil: That’s a good point.（なるほど）

今日のキーフレーズ
“I agree.” は「賛成」「わかる」「同じ意見です」などを意味する定番フレーズ。逆に、「そう思わない」と言いたい時は “I disagree.” などと表現できます。
また、以前にも紹介しましたが “That’s a good point.” は「なるほどね」「いいところついてるね」というニュアンスで使える便利なフレーズです♪
